Tuesday, March 11
Start Time: 4:00 PM
Jay Mandle, W. Bradford Wiley Professor of Economics at Colgate, will discuss and sign copies of his recent book Democracy, America, and the Age of Globalization. Refreshments provided.
Democracy, America, and the Age of Globalization examines the relationships between two separate issues: the problems caused by economic globalization and technological change, and those associated with with the way U.S. political campaigns are funded. The book presents the thesis that the U.S. political system is too biased towards the interests of wealthy campaign contributors to respond fairly to the problems that emerge from the new global economic order, and argues that the systematically unequal political process present in the United States cannot be expected to produce a just response to the inequities associated with globalization.
