Poetry Reading with Naomi Guttman
Thursday, March 6
Start Time: 4:30 PM
Naomi Guttman, will read from, and sign copies of, her latest collection of poetry Wet Apples, White Blood. Refreshments will be provided.
Naomi Guttman’s new poetry collection was inspired by the role of nursing in human evolution and culture. The first cycle of poems, “Wet Apples, White Blood," offers lyric glimpses into archetypes of breastfeeding women in history and myth. The dramatic action in the second cycle, “Galactopoesis,” centers around the experience of a mother whose young child is hospitalized.
Naomi Guttman is the author of Reasons for Winter, which received the A.M. Klein Award for Poetry and was shortlisted for The League of Canadian Poets’ Pat Lowther Memorial Award. She teaches English and creative writing at Hamilton College.
