Faculty author Wendy Wall: Inventing the "American Way"
Tuesday, April 1
Start Time: 4:30 PM
Rescheduled from February 26. Wendy Wall, assistant professor of history at Colgate, will discuss and sign copies of her new book Inventing the "American Way": The Politics of Consensus From the New Deal to the Civil Right Movement. Refreshments provided.
In Inventing the "American Way", Wendy Wall investigates the ways in which Americans of divergent backgrounds and beliefs shaped public understandings of the "American Way" over nearly three decades in the mid-twentieth century. The book sheds new light on a period that proved pivotal for American national identity and that remains the unspoken backdrop for debates over multiculturalism, national unity, and public values today.
