Children's Summer Book & Movie Club (July)

July meeting of the Children's Summer Book & Movie Club.  Read Because of Winn-Dixie by Kate DiCamillo in advance, watch the 2005 film based on the book at the Hamilton Theater, then join the group for refreshments and discussion at the Bookstore afterwards.

Memerbership is free, but parents should sign their children up in advance by calling 315-228-6944 or via email at helia@colgate.edu.

Open to children ages 7 and up; children 10 and under must be accompanied by an adult.

About the book:

When young Opal goes into the Winn-Dixie one day, she comes out with a dog, which she names after the store. Throughout the summer, Opal, with Winn-Dixie at her side, collects stories about her new friends, thinks about her late mother, and learns friendship, and forgiveness, can sneak up on you.

Target age group: 7 to 12
