Alumni Author Event: Winter's Tail by Craig Hatkoff '76

Join us for a special presentation by Craig Hatkoff '76 who will discuss the true story behind his new children's book Winter's Tail: How One Little Dolphin Learned to Swim Again. He will share the details and photographs of Winter, an injured dolphin, and the humans who help her re-learn to swim through the use of a prosthetic tail. The presentation will be followed by a Q&A session for adults and older children, a craft for younger children, and a book-signing. This event is free, and appropriate for ages 4 through adult, but space may be limited, so please register in advance by clicking HERE.
About the book:
This is a true story about a young dolphin named Winter who was injured by a crab trap. She was rescued, but lost her tail. Living in the Clearwater Marine Aquarium, a marine animal hospital, and with the help of a company that makes prosthetic limbs for humans, Winter has learned to swim again with a prosthetic tail.
About the author:
Along with his daughters Isabella and Juliana, Craig has written five nonfiction children’s picture books about remarkable animals overcoming adversity, inclduing the #1 New York Times bestseller Owen and Mzee: The True Story of a Remarkable Friendship. Craig's mission as an author is to share remarkable stories of hope and friendship about real animals and real world issues, while at the same time empowering kids and their parents to help save our planet. Craig Hatkoff graduated Magna Cum Laude from Colgate University in 1976. He is cofounder of the Tribeca Film Festival, along with his wife Jane Rosenthal and Robert De Niro, and is on the Board of Directors of WildlifeDirect, the New York University’s Child Study Center, and the Sesame Workshop.
