Jane Austen Book Club: Northanger Abbey

Northanger AbbeyAbout the book:
Northanger Abbey is one of Jane Austen's earliest novels, completed in the final years of the 18th-century but not published until after the author's death in 1817.  The novel's ordinary "almost pretty" heroine, Catherine Morland, takes her first trip to Bath with family friends.  There she makes new friends who share her taste in "horrid" Gothic novels, and meets potential suitor Henry Tilney.  But with her imagination fueled by thoughts of melodrama and sinister intrigue, Catherine turns her visit to Henry's family home, Northanger Abbey, into a hunt for dark family secrets.
